Description
Named after the Tarangire River which crosses the park, Tarangire park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. Visitors to the park in the June to November dry season can expect to see large herds of thousands of zebra, wildebeest and cape buffalo, in addition to many others. As a primary source of water, it naturally attracts a wide array of species, especially birds; at least 550 bird species visit the park, and thus, the park is a highly-sought after destination for bird enthusiasts.
Another sight that is common to see at this park are termite mounds. Some of the termite mounds are reused by dwarf mongooses, after the termites have “vacated”.
